Hi there! My name is

Angie Vasquez

and I would love to welcome you to Rise & Shine Play Therapy.

Perhaps you are worried or concerned about your child’s behavior or notice that they may be struggling with depression, anxiety, ADHD, etc. Or perhaps, your child has experienced a loss, a trauma, a difficult change or a big life transition. It may be that your child is having frequent tantrums, meltdowns, aggression and defiance and you are left feeling drained and struggling with how to help your child manage their big emotions.

I understand that reaching out for help for yourself and your family can be a difficult and vulnerable experience. I am here to support you and your child and work collaboratively to address these challenges.

My goal is to provide you and your family the support and guidance needed in order to promote personal growth, uncover personal strengths, and teach important skills to assist in resolving issues and make the behavioral transformations you are looking for and develop effective coping strategies to help you navigate any challenges you may be struggling with.

I am committed to providing a safe space and positive experience for your child / adolescent and family. I provide services in both English and Spanish.

Are you ready to take the first step?

I am a bilingual/bicultural Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT# 96367) and a Registered Play Therapist (RPT) with over 13 years of experience in working with toddlers, children, adolescents, families and caregivers.

I attended University of California, Riverside and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in both Psychology and Sociology. I attended graduate school at California State University, Fullerton and obtained a Master of Science degree in Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy.

I have worked across a variety of settings including non-profit community gang-prevention program, short-term crisis residential shelter for at-risk/homeless and runaway youth, outpatient mental health clinic and providing case management services in different capacities.

As a Registered Play Therapist (RPT), I have received specialized training in play therapy. I am able to provide developmentally appropriate counseling to children and families to address various social, emotional and/or behavioral concerns such as depression, anxiety, trauma, emotional dysregulation, defiance, aggression, attachment problems and relationship difficulties.

I enjoy working with children and their parents and caregivers to provide the skills and tools necessary to strengthen their relationship and build a stronger connection in order for parents/caregivers to effectively address the needs of their children and help them succeed outside of the session. I use an eclectic approach, integrating evidence-based treatment modalities.

In my free time, I enjoy hiking, running, reading, camping, traveling and catching sunrises and sunsets.

My practice is LGBTQ+ friendly.

At this time, my office is not ADA accessible. There is no elevator available for wheelchairs. I apologize for this inconvenience. If you need accommodations we can discuss telehealth options or specific support for in office visits.
